Terms of Service

The terms governing your use of hebdomad.digited.net.

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website hebdomad.digited.net (the “Site”) and the content published through it: the explanatory pages and the project map. The Site is a free, public research notebook; it sells nothing and does not govern a paid engagement. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Who we are

The Site is owned and operated by Claire AM Guillon, working under the name Digited Atelier, online. In these Terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Digited Atelier. Our contact details are in Section 12.

3. Who the Site is for

The Site is intended for scholars, students, and readers interested in the Renaissance and the history of ideas. You may use the Site if you are at least 16 years old. If you are under 16, you may use it only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

4. Your use of the Site

You may read and share the content for personal, non-commercial use, subject to Section 5. You agree not to: use the Site or its content for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of these Terms; scrape, mass-download, republish, or redistribute the content except as permitted by Section 5; misrepresent your identity when contacting us; interfere with the operation of the Site, including by automated access or attempts to exploit vulnerabilities; or use the content to train a machine-learning model without our written agreement.

5. Intellectual property

The original content of the Site (the texts, the design, the project map, and the Digited Atelier brand elements) is owned by us or licensed to us. The 1589 text of Paolini’s Hebdomades is in the public domain, and nothing in these Terms claims rights over the primary source; the rights reserved here are in the original writing, design, and brand elements. You have a personal, non-commercial licence to read the Site. You may quote short extracts, up to 300 words, with attribution for non-commercial purposes; link to the pages; and cite the Site in academic or educational work with full attribution. You may not republish a page in full or in substantial part, produce a derivative product for commercial distribution, use the Digited Atelier name or marks without written permission, or use the content to train a machine-learning model without our written permission. If you send us a message, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it for the purpose for which you sent it; you keep ownership of what you send, and we anonymise identifying details when quoting from correspondence in public writing, unless you give explicit written consent to be identified.

6. Third-party links and services

The Site links to third-party sites, including the Internet Archive, academia.edu, the notebook at notes.digited.net, and the hub at digited.net, and it relies on a website host and an email provider. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content or practices. Your use of any third-party site is governed by that site’s own terms and privacy policy.

7. Disclaimers

The Site and its content are provided “as is”. The notebook is a work of scholarship in progress, offered for reading and discussion; it does not constitute legal, financial, or medical advice. We do not guarantee that the Site will be available without interruption or that the content will always be current.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, and excluding liability that cannot be limited by law (such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud): we are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental loss; no fees are charged through this Site; and nothing in this Section limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version and its effective date are shown at the foot of this page. Where a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention. Continued use of the Site after a change takes effect indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law, reflecting the French hosting of this site and the online, cross-border nature of the work. Nothing in this Section limits any mandatory consumer-law rights you have in your country of residence.

11. The relationship to our other policies

These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy and our Code of Conduct.

12. Contact

For any question about these Terms, please write to contact [at] digited [dot] net. This Site is owned and operated by Claire AM Guillon, working under the name Digited Atelier, online.
